Project Manager Degree Apprenticeships – Starting Soon at University of Gloucestershire

In September 2021, the University of Gloucestershire will be welcoming its second cohort of Project Manager Degree Apprentices, following the successful launch of these programmes at the start of the year.

The coronavirus pandemic has meant that many organisations are having to reconfigure their operations to meet ever-changing demands. As such, having the skills available to deliver complex projects on time, to budget and to the highest quality has never been more important.

The University of Gloucestershire’s Project Manager Degree Apprenticeships will support organisations in gaining the skills they need to adapt to new requirements and realise the opportunities that lie ahead. In addition to providing learners with hands-on experience, they also achieve a BA (Hons) Degree in Project Management upon successful completion of the programme. Learners also have the opportunity to get a recognised industry-standard IPMA Level D qualification (or equivalent), such as the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ).

Programme Leader, Dougie Yourston, explains: “While organisations have always been required to demonstrate flexibility and innovation in adapting to new circumstances, the pace of change required has never been faster. As such, the demand for effective project managers who are able to support organisations in navigating change effectively has never been greater.

Our Project Management Degree Apprenticeships are a great and almost instant way for organisations to boost their capabilities.  These programmes give learners the theoretical knowledge of areas such as finance, risk management and stakeholder engagement, and apprentices are able to put their new-found skills into practice in the workplace from day one.”

Designed for both talented career entrants and those already working in industry, the Project Management Degree Apprenticeship takes approximately 3 years to complete. Larger organisations can fund these programmes through their apprenticeship levy, while smaller employers are entitled to government funding. There are also government incentive payments available for organisations taking on new apprentices.

Specific entry requirements are agreed with employers but learners should have level 2 qualifications in maths and English (GCSE at grade C / 4 or above, or equivalent). Apprentices must also be in full-time employment (e.g. employed for at least 30 hours per week) in a relevant job role.
