Property consultancy Vail Williams has bolstered its Thames Valley region with the appointment of a new senior surveyor as business demand grows.

James Little, who has joined the Thames Valley office team as a Senior Surveyor, is a Chartered Surveyor in the expanding Valuation team.

He has joined from Lambert Smith Hampton and previously also worked for the Valuation Office Agency for more than five years where he was enrolled on its apprenticeship scheme.

During this time James gained experience in both rating and valuation departments, working for public sector clients. His valuation experience spans both commercial and residential, carrying out reports for both local taxation and Red Book purposes.

His experience includes presenting at valuation tribunals as both an advocate and expert witness, carrying out Red Book reports for secure lending purposes, asset valuations for public sector clients and valuations for inheritance tax.

James gained his BSc in real estate from the University College of Estate Management after completing his L6 surveying apprenticeship course.

He said: “I am thrilled to be joining Vail Williams in the Thames Valley region and being part of such a go-ahead team in an area where there is a tremendous amount of commercial property activity.

“These are exciting times and I am aiming to play my full part in ensuring Vail Williams’ ongoing commitment to providing clients with a second-to-none service is fully achieved.

“I believe the experience I have gained from previous rating and valuation work, as well as presenting at valuation tribunals, will stand me in good stead as I strive to make a difference.”

David Thomas, Thames Valley regional managing partner, said: “The appointment of James reflects our continuing growth strategy, discovering the brightest young talent out there and bringing them into our business.

“I am expecting great things of him and he will have a big role to play in our future, offering valuation services to banks, business, developers and professional referrers.”

An avid rower, James spends most of his spare time training at Reading Rowing Club where he competes for their senior men’s squad.

Vail Williams’ full-service property advice includes commercial agency, investment and development advice, building consultancy, property valuation, planning, lease advisory, property asset management, business rates and occupier consultancy.
