New head of SMEs in Midlands for Barclays
Barclays has appointed Jon Corbett to the Midlands as the new Head of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) for the Central England Region, with responsibility for businesses with a turnover up to £10million.
Jon, who has worked at Barclays for 33 years, has a wealth of experience across both Corporate and Business Banking. Having previously led teams within both the Mid and Large Corporate arena, Jon has more recently been leading a team working with SME Businesses across the South East Midlands and Cambridgeshire region. Jon has also been a member of the Strategic Oversight Board (SOB) for the Midlands Engine Investment Fund since its inception and has been Chair of the SOB for the last 2 years.
Commenting on his appointment Jon said: “I am incredibly proud of the opportunity to help Midlands small and medium businesses grow and thrive across the region I am so passionate about. Having been predominantly based in South East Midlands for a number of years, I look forward to getting to know the regional business community across the wider Midlands region in the coming months.”
The Central England SME team is 94 strong with office locations across the East Midlands, West Midlands, Black Country, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
Jon lives near Milton Keynes with his wife Alison and they have three children. Jon is a keen football fan and a Derby County season ticket holder as well as a UEFA B Qualified Football Coach. In addition, he and Alison now enjoy many long cycling trips on their Tandem.
