Corporate and Technology Law Firm, Moorcrofts, which has its head office at Marlow in Buckinghamshire, has strengthened its corporate team as senior associate, Nicola Bennett, becomes partner.

Nicola returned to Moorcrofts in 2018 after having trained and qualified with the firm back in 2008. Before joining Moorcrofts, Nicola was a senior associate at the London office of reputable law firm, Freeths, where she specialised in a range of corporate matters including capital markets transactions.

Nicola is highly experienced in corporate transactions, investments, restructurings and share schemes and has a well-established reputation in the corporate field. She also has extensive experience of both private practice and in-house work, having spent many years working for a major Spanish infrastructure company and as sole legal counsel for a London based property consultancy firm. This, coupled with being highly motivated and commercially astute, plays to Moorcrofts strengths of being an in-house legal and business advisory team for its clients.

Her appointmen commenced on 1 April 2020. Nicola, said: “I am delighted to be joining the partnership having originally started my career with Moorcrofts. Our corporate team undertake high quality, complex work and I am looking forward to taking a more leading role in the firm to further strengthen our presence in the market and continue to deliver excellent results for our clients.”

In 2019, Nicola advised on a number of high level million-pound deals, including the sale of Videalert Development Limited (a leading supplier of intelligent traffic management and enforcement solutions) to Marston Holdings Limited and the sale of Crafty Clicks Limited (a specialist address look-up and verification provider) to Clearcourse Partnership Acquireco Ltd which is backed by the private equity firm, Aquiline Capital Partners .

Teri Hunter, Joint Managing Partner and Head of Corporate added: “Nicola is an outstanding and very experienced corporate lawyer. She has always impressed us with her time management, delivering great results and providing strong expertise and a dedicated approach since her return. This coupled with excellent client feedback and the development of strong longstanding relationships, becoming partner has been a natural progression for Nicola.  We look forward to her further contribution to the business.”

Moorcrofts now boasts one of the largest corporate and commercial teams in the Thames Valley region and specialises in niche areas of tech law, such as free and open source software and software supply chain compliance. It is dedicated to delivering an outstanding service to its clients through adopting a partner-led approach. Nicola’s appointment continues to support this ethos with the firm.
