Over 60s property business Churchill Estates Management has completed the biggest ever single expansion of its portfolio with the acquisition of 32 retirement developments from Housing 21.

This acquisition brings a total of 1,035 leasehold retirement properties across the country into Churchill’s portfolio, growing the company’s total units under management to more than 10,000.

The developments cover a wide geographic area from Liverpool in the northwest to Eastbourne in the south and will fit seamlessly into Churchill’s nationwide manager support network.

Churchill was selected as the best fit to take on the management of these developments from Housing 21 due to its expertise in the privately-owned retirement leasehold sector.

Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Ringwood, Hampshire, Churchill Estates Management is the independent arm of the Churchill Retirement Group. Churchill Estates Management already manages more than 200 developments across the country, providing management services and emergency careline support to thousands of older people.

Managing Director Emma McCarthy said“We are delighted to have completed this acquisition which marks the biggest ever single expansion of our portfolio. Our unrivalled specialism in the privately-owned leasehold retirement sector makes us the perfect fit to take on the management and long term stewardship of these developments. This is another exciting step in our growth journey as we continue to expand our presence across the country and pursue our exciting plans for the future.”

Richard Wheeldon, Head of Retirement Living (Leasehold) at Housing 21 said: “At Housing 21 we are committed to putting residents at the heart of what we do to ensure older people of modest means can live in safe, quality and affordable homes and receive a high standard of service from their landlord. As an expert provider of retirement living and extra care, we recognise the needs of our leasehold residents would be better served by a specialist leasehold provider. Churchill Estates Management has an excellent track record of meeting the specific needs of leaseholders and we are pleased to be transferring ownership of these schemes to an organisation that can better serve our leasehold residents whilst continuing to provide colleagues with an excellent employee experience.”
