Oxfordshire law firm Hedges Law has raised over £2,000 for the grief support charity SeeSaw, its chosen charity of the year.

The latest fundraising effort undertaken by Hedges Law saw two members of the Oxfordshire law firm’s team, Head of Business Development, Rebecca Kashti and Trainee Solicitor, James Overton, attend the Hinton Skydiving centre, close to Banbury, to undertake a sky diving challenge.

Jumping from 10,000 feet and freefalling at over 120mph, the pair had originally set out with the aim of raising £400. However, thanks to the generosity of colleagues, friends, family and members of the public, they eventually went on to smash their original target by raising over £2,000.

SeeSaw is Hedges Law’s chosen charity of the year, and a cause close to the hearts of the team. SeeSaw provides essential grief support to children, young people and their families anywhere in Oxfordshire, whether a death is sudden or expected, due to illness or accident, or for some other reason.

SeeSaw believes that with appropriate and timely support, bereaved young people will be able to face the future with hope and fulfil their potential despite a devastating loss.

Speaking after the jump Rebecca said: “SeeSaw is a fantastic local Oxfordshire-based charity, providing essential support to young members of the community and their families at a time of such uncertainty, worry and sadness.

"Jumping from 13,000 feet was daunting, but so worth it to know we were doing what we could to help these families at a time they are experiencing the loss of a loved one.”

James added: “SeeSaw is our chosen charity of the year. They carry out essential support services in the Oxfordshire community and are a cause the whole team truly believe in, helping to shape children’s lives. I’m really looking forward to taking part in some of the other fundraising efforts happening later this year.”

Further fundraising at Hedges Law is taking place later this year. In November, Director of Culture and Innovative, Nicola Poole, will be heading to Africa to take on the Sahara Trek, an expedition taking place in the Moroccan Sahara, covering around 50km in temperatures of up to 40 degrees.

Participants will trek across ancient, dried-up river beds, rocky sand dunes and vast sun-baked plains, stopping to sleep in tents at night.

Clare Mather Allkins, Fundraising Manager said “As a small charity, SeeSaw relies on the support of countless individuals, families, community groups, businesses and schools to keep going.

"Fundraising is essential to SeeSaw so we can continue to give vital support to young people and their families, in the community. We hugely appreciate the money raised by Hedges Law and the fundraising efforts of everyone in the Oxfordshire area and further afield.”

Hedges Law, an Employee Ownership Trust-led law firm, has business hubs in Oxford, Wallingford, London and the Cotswolds.
