Gateley Legal has appointed Nicola Bennett as a new partner for its Reading office, working within the corporate team.

Nicola joins Gateley Legal from a partner role with Moorcrofts LLP, where she has spent the past four years, prior to which she was a senior associate for Freeths in its London office.

After qualifying as a solicitor, Nicola spent five years as an in-house lawyer with Spanish company Abertis Infrastructure, supporting the airports division at its head office in Barcelona.

Nicola has a broad range of corporate expertise, having gained experience in both in-house and private practice roles over the past 14 years.

Her practice focuses predominantly on private company mergers and acquisitions (share and asset-related), MBOs and MBIs. She has acted for a range of clients including start-ups, SMEs, owner-managed businesses and large corporates across various sectors including technology, hospitality and retail.

Aside from transactional work, Nicola also advises business owners on a wide variety of corporate restructuring matters including capital reductions, share repurchases, demergers and hive ups and has acted on some complex transactions often involving cross-border aspects.

She said: “I am extremely excited to have joined Gateley as I was keen to work for a forward-thinking organisation that offers excellent progression opportunities.

"Our purpose of delivering results that delight our clients, inspire people and support the communities in which we operate is something I have a great affinity with and it all feels a great fit for me.

“I am looking forward to working with this team of talented and knowledgeable individuals to grow our offering and to build upon the great success that has already been achieved here.”

Andrew Peddie, partner and head of the Gateley Reading office, said: “We are delighted to have Nicola on board. She brings with her a wealth of experience and I am confident that she will have a significant contribution to make as we continue to grow and expand our offering in Reading.”
