Four trainee lawyers qualify at law firm Higgs

West Midlands law firm Higgs LLP is celebrating after four more of its legal trainees completed their period of recognised training to become fully qualified solicitors, bringing the total number retained by the firm since September 2022 to eight – a retention rate of 80 per cent.

The Associates – Simrit Chahal, Sarah-Jane Goodswen, Chloe Shilton and Eleanor Martin – have completed their two-year training contracts with Higgs and will now take up permanent positions.

Simrit will qualify into personal injury, Sarah-Jane will join the tax team, while Chloe will work in the restructuring and insolvency team. Eleanor will qualify into property litigation.

Managing partner Nick Taylor said: “We are committed to growing our future talent and are proud of our trainees who have worked incredibly hard over the past couple of years to develop their skills and legal understanding in their chosen fields.

Eleanor graduated from the University of Birmingham with a law degree and went on to complete the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and MSc in Law and Business at the University of Law in Birmingham, while Sarah-Jane graduated in law from the University of Birmingham and went on to study the LPC and MSc in Law, Business and Management.

Chloe graduated from the University of Exeter and completed the LPC at the University of Law, and Simrit read law at university, going on to complete the LPC and Masters of Law, at BPP University.
