Double CIM commendation for marketing courses at WCG

Marketing students in Leamington have helped their college receive a double-commendation from a leading industry institute after excelling in their end-of-term assessments.

Students working towards their Level 4 Certificates and Level 6 Diplomas in Professional Marketing have helped Royal Leamington Spa College achieve two top awards from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) by turning in excellent assessment results, extending their run of commendations to seven straight years.

It is the latest in a series of CIM commendations awarded to the college, which is part of WCG (formerly Warwickshire College Group), and staff will be hoping to break last year’s total of five.

The Level 4 assessments tested students on their ability to plan, analyse, and set objectives in the implementation of campaigns, while the Level 6 students were tested on innovations in marketing and the challenges of today’s market as part of their awards in Professional Marketing.

Paula Gordon, Work Based Learning Programme Delivery Manager at WCG, said: “CIM commendations showcase the high standard of training delivery on offer at WCG, and show that this is a fantastic place for those wanting to have a professional career in marketing to learn their craft.

“The department is in tune with the demands of the professional marketplace, while our tutors on these courses are marketing practitioners who bring real life experience and application to the theories they teach.

“I would like to thank our Level 6 tutor Pam Bates and Level 4 tutor Gemma Wilkes for their fantastic work in supporting students with this success.

“We are one of a few colleges which runs the Level 6 course in the region, so to show that we are doing so at a professionally accredited standard highlights the prestige that our marketing programme has garnered in recent years.

“There is no better testament to prospective students of the things they can achieve on our marketing programme than the success of our current students. They should be extremely proud of their achievements, which are always our main concern.

“For the college to continue to be recognised as a result of that is another motivation to find new ways to push and improve both our courses and our students.”
