Developing better leaders for tomorrow…
A new leadership training programme, which supports next generation leaders, is now available to all small and medium sized businesses.
LEADlight, created and delivered by leadership development strategists QuoLuxTM, is a practical six-month programme which helps individuals (those below Board and senior management level) to become better leaders.
Its aim is to help junior and middle managers to develop their skills and awareness; to improve their performance and get better results from their teams; and to prepare themselves for senior management responsibilities. By doing so it also helps provide options for succession, while the ripple effects of effective leadership are amplified throughout the organisation.
“LEADlight provides the opportunity to put leadership learning into practice,” says Jo Draper, Director of QuoLuxTM. “It’s about learning by doing. It’s also about building confidence – both through the programme, but also thanks to the powerful network that the course brings.”
Participants work together through five main elements including workshops, ‘think tanks’, action learning, an action planning challenge and, as a final outcome, a presentation to a leadership panel.
Everyone on the programme gets to explore and understand more about effective leadership and their own leadership styles – appreciating how this may impact on others in their organisations. Participants also get to learn about various leadership models and techniques, so that they are equipped with their own ‘toolboxes’ for use back in their businesses.
“We know the impact that bad managers can have on an organisation,” continues Jo. “The number one reason people quit their jobs is a bad manager or immediate supervisor. This is a costly problem; costly in recruitment, sickness absence, employee engagement and, ultimately, productivity and the bottom line. Leaders owe it to every person in their organisation to support the development of their managers.”
Recent graduate Emma Shotton, Business Development Manager, MF Freeman says, “LEADlight has provided me with a new set of skills to pull from which have already proved invaluable. I feel that I can truly add value to the business and get the very best from my team.”
