Coventry Building Society named ‘West Midlands Best Large Apprenticeship Employer’ for second year
Coventry Building Society has been named West Midlands Best Large Apprenticeship Employer for the second year running at the National Apprenticeship Awards.
The UK’s second largest building society, which employs around 2,700 people and has head offices in Binley and Walsgrave, will now go to the national final in December.
The National Apprenticeship Awards highlight the benefits apprenticeships bring to individuals, businesses, and local communities, and celebrate the successes of those that have gone above and beyond to make a difference.
Lucy Becque, Chief People Officer at Coventry Building Society, said: “Apprentices bring so much to our business and we’re delighted to be recognised for the work we do with them. Our apprenticeship programme is focused on creating opportunities that genuinely benefit the business area and the individual apprentice.
“We take on around 20 apprentices a year across different areas including Mortgages, IT and Digital, Finance, Financial Crime and Talent Development. Although this year, we’ve had a bumper crop and we’ve got more than 45 so far.
“Traditional views on apprenticeships are changing and, alongside school and university leavers, we often have people with lots of experience join our programme because they want a career change or they’re looking for a role that allows them to achieve qualifications alongside their work.”
