A chartered accountant at Staverton and Cheltenham-based business advisers and accountants Hazlewoods has qualified as licensed insolvency practitioner.

Nick Stafford's qualification makes him the third licensed IP at the firm, working alongside Pete Frost and Vic Ellaby.

Nick joined Hazlewoods in 2007 and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2011.

He subsequently joined the Hazlewoods' business recovery and insolvency team and passed the Joint Insolvency Examination Board examinations.

He has over 10 years of experience in managing and dealing with insolvency-related matters, specialising in corporate insolvency.

Partner in the business recovery and insolvency team, Pete Frost, said: “Nick’s license is a great achievement and further demonstrates our commitment to professional standards in our team.”

The Insolvency Practitioner Association’s IPs are licensed in relation to formal insolvencies conducted in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland on the basis of extensive experience and having passed insolvency and related examinations.

“The IPA’s principal aim," said Nick, "is to promote and maintain high standards of performance and professional conduct amongst those engaged in insolvency and related practice.

"I am looking forward to providing advice and assistance to local businesses, individuals and other stakeholders as we emerge from the pandemic together.”

Peter Davison is deputy editor of The Business Magazine. He has spent his life in journalism – doing work experience in newsrooms in and around Bristol while still at school, and landing his first job on a local newspaper aged 19. By 28 he was the youngest newspaper editor in the country.

An early advocate of online news, he spent the first years of the 2000s telling his bosses that the internet posed both the biggest opportunity and greatest threat to the newspaper industry and the art of journalism. He was right on both counts.

Since 2006 he has enjoyed a career as a freelance journalist. He lives in rural Wiltshire with one wife, two children, and three cats.
