Cheltenham-based law firm, BPE Solicitors has announced a number of promotions and a key addition to the Private Client team as the firm enters a new financial year.

This year’s promotions come from across the board at BPE, from Commercial Property to IT and Cyber.

Joining BPE’s fellow Partners are Louise Grzasko and Emma Hickson having been promoted after their standout contributions to the firm and their respective departments. Along with her promotion, Louise has also taken the reins of BPE’s Corporate department, as their Team Leader; holding overall responsibility for the team’s work, along with growth and development of the team’s AIM and public company offering.

Since joining the firm in 2018, Emma has brought with her a wealth of expertise and experience from her previous roles, working with large-scale public sector and financial service companies.  Emma was previously an Outsourcing Lawyer for the in-house team at DXC Technology as well as the former Chief Legal Officer for LUUP, the Norwegian mobile payments company. Emma is now spear-heading the development of the firm’s new IT and Cyber department.

Continuing the Partner promotions theme, both Doug Armstrong, Partner in Commercial Property and Peter Tyrrell, Partner in Private Client have taken on new mantles and formal roles within BPE, becoming Fixed Share Partners.

The final promotion sees Matthew Jones, from Commercial Property, being promoted to Senior Associate. Matthew only joined the firm in May but since arriving he has excelled; bringing to the table an impressive work ethic, adaptability, expertise and a solid approach to both transaction and client. Matthew has been working for some of the department’s biggest clients, seamlessly completing complex and tightly timed deals.

BPE’s Private Client team continues to go from strength to strength, now with the addition of Malcolm Emery to the department. A dual qualified Chartered Tax Advisor and Solicitor, Malcolm joins BPE and Private Client as a Partner. Having previously worked for Stephens Scown in Exeter, Malcolm brings with him a wealth of expertise and experience. His particular specialism is advising clients on both complex tax planning and succession planning for business owners; as well as a wide range of private legal matters.

Senior Partner, John Workman, commented: “We’re thrilled to announce so many senior promotions this year. Four Partner promotions and the addition of Malcolm Emery is definitely a clear sign of the firm’s continual growth and development. Each individual has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the firm and our clients; bringing to the table excellent technical knowledge and a personal drive to go above and beyond the call of duty. As a business it is also critical to strengthen our existing teams, and we are delighted to welcome Malcolm who brings in complementary expertise and aptitude as a Chartered Tax Advisor and Solicitor.”
