Blake Morgan moves to flexible working with fewer days in offices

Law firm Blake Morgan has shown its commitment to supporting staff in the post-pandemic era by launching a Smart Working Policy that allows its 800-plus people to divide their time between home and office.

The firm said that it expects “the majority of people” will spend two or three days working at its offices in Southampton, Reading, Oxford, Cardiff and London in an average working week. Blake Morgan cites reduced travel time and improved work/life balance as being among the main drivers behind the policy change, while still being able to ensure collaboration and connection between its staff.

It confirmed that its five offices will remain important hubs and also expects to see a “dramatic reduction” in paper usage and other waste with the transition to smart working.

Liz Bryne, HR and Development Director at Blake Morgan, said: “Covid-19 has accelerated the need to find flexibility in the ways we work. It has also given us an opportunity to explore how we might apply some of these principles more permanently to how we work past the pandemic, for the benefit of our colleagues and our clients.

“New technology, changing client and employee expectations, and a changing business environment means that law firms need to adapt and transform their working practices.”
