Apprentices from Banbury-based company appear on Channel 4 News
Following the announcement of the Government’s £2bn Kickstart Scheme, an apprentice from Banbury-based company Norbar Torque Tools has appeared on Channel 4 News to speak about the importance of supporting training for young people across all industries.
Norbar specialises in the manufacture and worldwide distribution of torque tools for torque tightening, measurement and calibration. The Wildmere Road-based company was asked to take part in pre-recorded interviews which later aired on the news programme. Simeon Baker, a CNC Setter at Norbar Torque was interviewed for the programme as was Director Neill Brodey.
Neill commented: “It was a great honour to host Channel 4 News and for our apprentices to be given such a high-profile platform to talk about their experiences. As I said in the programme, apprentices are our lifeblood and we will continue to invest in bringing young people into the workforce and giving them a good grounding as they begin their working lives.”
A scheme aimed at encouraging businesses to train up more 18 to 24-year-olds across all industries, Kickstart has been launched to alleviate the economic damage that some fear will more negatively impact younger generations.
Simeon Baker commented: “Apprenticeships are a hugely important part of giving thousands of young people a chance at a good, stable career. Norbar have given me a great start to my working life, including support for me during my degree course.”
