It’s an exciting time for key players in the aerospace market.  Become a Safran apprentice and watch your career take off!

Did you know Gloucestershire has world-famous aviation heritage stretching as far back as 1935 when Sir George Dowty and his team invented the world’s first internally sprung aircraft wheel?  The invention revolutionised the aerospace industry and to this day, Safran continue to be at the forefront of innovation.

Safran Landing Systems in Gloucester, design, develop and manufacture landing gear solutions for 30 leading commercial, military, business and regional airframers, supporting more than 27,000 aircraft, making over 54,000 landings every day.  Around the world, an aircraft fitted with a Safran landing gear, lands every 2.1 seconds! You can be part of this global giant, working in a family-feel environment in Gloucester, by joining us as an apprentice.

Daniel Powell chose the apprenticeship route to kick start his engineering career, rather than studying at university as he preferred to learn in a ‘hands-on’ way.  He was an integral part of the team responsible for assembling the Airbus A350 landing gear exhibited at the 2019 Paris Air Show. Visited by 320,000 people including French President, Emmanuel Macron and French Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe, the landing gear was the highlight of the show, with Daniel describing it as ‘a great experience’.

Daniel states “The apprenticeship scheme at Safran has changed my life and has set me on track for my engineering career.  I have learnt a large number of skills that will help me throughout my career and learning on the job is definitely the way forward in my opinion. I have hugely matured as a person whilst in the workplace and made some good friends. All the experience I am getting will help me build my career into what I want it to be and will help me reach all my goals.  I would highly recommend and encourage young people to apply for an apprenticeship with Safran; I'm sure it will benefit them as it has done for me”.

At Safran, we are passionate about developing ambitious and self-motivating team players like Daniel, who have a keen interest in science and engineering, thrive at problem solving and have the ability to demonstrate a methodical and thorough approach to work.

If this sounds like you, then find out more about the various apprenticeship opportunities in Gloucester here.  The apprenticeship scheme is a structured, nationally recognised program and we have opportunities in areas across our Engineering and Production departments. Applications are open until 29th February 2020.

Learn ‘on-the-job’ in real-life situations and discover your potential, by joining a pioneering engineering firm right on your doorstep.
