Historic Oxford-based architecture, planning and urban design practice, West Waddy ADP has completed its merger with London’s Archadia Architects.

The two have formed a new practice, WWA, which will continue to operate from the existing offices of the two former practices in Abingdon and Hampton in London.

West-Waddy-logo-1West Waddy has been based in the town of Abingdon since 1885 and the merger with Archadia – its sister practice since 2014 – is the next step in its evolution.

Through its group of experienced architects, planners and urban designers, WWA is a leader in the built environment, creating outstanding spaces and places for its clients.

WWA will deliver high-quality and innovative solutions to client briefs, incorporating sustainable design principles across an array of sectors including residential developments, educational campuses, masterplanning and urban design.

Philip-WaddyPhilip Waddy, managing director at WWA, said: “The coming together of our teams under one unified brand is a hugely exciting time. Over the last seven years, we have developed a strong and cohesive working relationship with our colleagues in London and by streamlining our processes and bringing everyone under one identity, we will be able to drive greater efficiencies, supporting the business and aspirations of our clients.

“This is the latest step in the evolutionary journey of our practices and puts us in an ideal position to emerge from Covid-19 ready to meet future demands.”

While the name and identity – which is reflected across the practice’s revised website, collateral and social channels – may be new, it was essential for the directors of the practices that they retained and enhance their core values.

Waddy added: “The association of the two practices was predominantly formed on our shared values of socially and environmentally aware design, caring for our heritage and ensuring responsive, reliable and results orientated services for our clients.

“The quality of the team we have is exceptional, their expertise is second to none and our clients will undoubtedly benefit from our specialists working under one brand. We are very much looking forward to continuing to deliver for our clients and providing them with a high-quality, multi-disciplinary design and planning service.
