Warwick automotive boss scoops Director of the Year award
The boss at a leading automotive design, engineering, and recruitment company has won a prestigious management award from the West Midlands Institute of Directors (IoD).
Peter Jarvis, the MD of Warwick-based Contechs, scooped the business organisation’s coveted Director of the Year - Large Business award.
The honour is designed to celebrate directors helming a business with an annual turnover of more than £50 million.
Judges assessed several factors – such as Peter’s vision for growth, innovation, understanding of key challenges, customers, and the competitive landscape – before awarding him the top title.
He said: “The Institute of Directors is a highly respected professional body which sets the standard for business leaders across the UK.
“As we approach Contechs’ 25th year of trading, I am extremely proud to receive such a distinguished award and it is a great honour for both myself and the business.”
Judges were impressed with his leadership in developing ideas and brokering relationships with clients and strategic partners, ensuring actions are implemented quickly, giving staff focus, and setting and meeting objectives in line with Contechs’ ongoing strategy.
“I see myself as a custodian of the automotive heritage for which the West Midlands is renowned, not just in the UK, but globally,” Peter added.
“I strive to develop a company that looks to the future, from encouraging young talent to investing in state-of-the-art equipment, IT and tooling.
“Contechs is passionate about its people, the preservation of skill sets, and operates a programme of continuous investment.”
Since becoming MD in 2006, Peter has steered Contechs to become one of the UK’s leading design engineering and recruitment firms specialising within the automotive sector and renowned for its innovation.
Its client portfolio features some of Europe’s largest and most prestigious vehicle manufacturers, including high volume carmakers, performance specialists and first tier suppliers.
And to ensure sustainability, Contechs has continually diversified its offering, the most recent example of which is the company’s expansion move into medical PPE design and manufacture – a new development for the business and one which will provide a platform for continued growth.
The business has aggressive expansion plans for 2021 along with recruiting a significant number of people locally and in surrounding areas.
