LTi Metaltech achieves Fit 4 Nuclear status for the next three years
A commitment to ongoing development and quality has resulted in Abingdon-based fabrication specialist LTi-Metaltech being granted Fit 4 Nuclear (F4N) status. The company received the status, which lasts for three years, following stringent assessment and on-site verification at its Abingdon factory.
The F4N status measures LTi’s procedures against those used within the nuclear industry. It has been developed by the Nuclear AMRC and key partners to support manufacturers and other suppliers to the nuclear industry in their operations.
LTi’s credentials have already been highlighted through its work with fusion energy pioneer Tokamak Energy, manufacturing a vacuum chamber for the company’s innovative spherical Tokamak ST40 fusion reactor prototype. In addition, the company has a long-standing track record in the production of MRI cryostats.
LTi’s technical director, Edgar Rayner, said: “Achieving the Fit 4 Nuclear status is a recognition of the hard work each member of staff at LTi Metaltech does on a daily basis. Over the years, we’ve worked to implement a culture of quality and continuous development at all levels of our organisation. We’re excited about the opportunities being Fit 4 Nuclear granted will bring to us and being involved in this highly-specialised area.”
LTi also holds internationally-recognised accreditations, including being certified to ISO9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems), and BS EN ISO 1090 (CE Marking of Steel and Aluminium Structures). It also holds an AD2000 Merkblatt HP0 certification for the manufacture of pressure and vacuum vessels, issued by TUV SUD.
