JMDA child car seat wins two national design awards
Two new products designed by Worcestershire-base product design consultancy JMDA Design have been awarded the highly acclaimed iF Design Awards.
Working with client Ningbo Mybaby Baby&Children Products Manufacturing Co., Ltd on the Q88 i-Size and Q60 i-Size child safety seat, the two award winning products have been recognised for the innovative design that aids useability and child safety.
Multi-height child restraint systems (CRS) are seats that can change from rear-facing to forward-facing to combine different child height groups into one seat. These seats require different safety features throughout a child’s growth and although many products on the market try to combine the different age groups into a single product, most sacrifice the products’ effective use in doing so.
Walter Mosca, Industrial Design Director at JMDA says “We are delighted that two of the child car seats that we designed for Mybaby have received iF Design Awards. The uniqueness in the way we design comes from understanding everyday challenges of consumers, striving for increased safety, and creating cutting edge designs that lead the nursery market.”

The Q88 i-Size child safety car seat is designed for 40-125cm range and consists of various design features that improve the usability and discourage misuse of the product. This improves the child’s safety in a vehicle. The Q60 i-Size child safety car seat is a high back booster designed for child height range 100-150 cm (3 -12 years).

The backrest can be adjusted in height as the child grows taller and is foldable which makes it extremely compact when on the move. The seat is unique in that it has a compact folding size but does not compromise on internal space and weighs just 4.5kg which also aids in the portability of the product.
LED lights on the base assist in illumination during installation of the important fitting features, plus targeted ventilation to the upper body and neck area provides more effective temperature control of the child.
Having celebrated their recent award successes at Kind + Jugend International Fair at the beginning of September, JMDA Design are poised for the next big event in the nursery industry calendar, the Harrogate International Nursery Fair on 15th-17th October 2023.
