Dometic has announced the appointment of Julia Tyrrell as the new sales and marketing director for Chichester-based Oceanair Marine.

After 15 years working within the manufacturing industry in the marine and automotive sector together with a legal and commercial background, Tyrrell has been with the company nine years in a senior sales and distribution role.

An experienced manager she brings an extensive background from both industries and the superyacht sector to her new position at Oceanair. She will tap in to knowledge from her previous responsibilities including all aspects of international sales, attendance at major boat shows and communication with a customer base of OEMs, yacht designers and naval architects, plus Oceanair’s distribution network.

She will be responsible for leading the sales and marketing team based at the UK headquarters of the blinds, shades, screens and soft furnishings specialist, overseeing support of Oceanair’s global network of distributors in more than 30 countries.

Justine Heeley, managing director, Oceanair, said: “Julia has valuable experience and knowledge of both the company and the industry after working at Oceanair initially in a superyacht sales role and, for the last three years, in a senior position as our Distributor Manager. We are confident that this expertise will enable her to enjoy great success in her new position. She will help us to continue designing elegant solutions for our customers during this exciting period of growth for our company as we expand our reach to more customers with the support of Dometic as our new owner.”

Oceanair has been manufacturing custom-built solutions that are full optimised for life at sea for almost 30 years, supplying the world’s leading boat builders. Its comprehensive portfolio of products includes a range of blinds for different applications for windows, hatches, portlights, sunroofs and doors, such as powered, pleated, Venetian, roller, Roman and reflective shades. In addition, its soft furnishings offering includes sheeting and bedspreads, curtains and drapes, cushions, pillows and towels.

Dometic completed the acquisition of Oceanair in 2017 to further strengthen its presence in the marine market, enhance its portfolio and capitalise on engineering and commercial synergies, while enabling Oceanair to increase its customer base.
