More than 1,500 pumpkins have spookily turned up over night in a field on the outskirts of Royal Wootton Bassett. Located behind Arkell’s Brewery’s Sally Pussey’s Inn on Swindon Road, it’s not part of a large strain of pumpkins taking over the region but Halloween celebrations.
The Sally Pussey’s team have worked in collaboration with the local farmer to ensure that in light of traditional Trick or Treat activity being cancelled due to Covid, local children and their families can still celebrate this popular occasion.
The locally grown pumpkins will be ready to be ‘picked’ and selected for carving from today through half term until Saturday 31 October.
Children can also enjoy rides on the fairground bumper cars and a bungee that Sally Pussey’s are operating during half term. There’s also a selection of pop-up food stalls serving waffles, donughts and icecream and a specifically designed Pumpkin Patch specials menu.
If you fancy sitting indoors to enjoy the newly launched Sally’s menu instead, then simply book ahead or pop in to enquire about availability. Why not enquire about booking your Christmas table for 6 while you’re here?!
“It is the first time we have created a Pumpkin Patch and we want to help everyone get into the spirit at this time of year, no pun intended,” said Relish Group director, Rob Goves. “Sally’s is a real family favourite in Wootton Bassett, Swindon and the surrounding area and we thought this would be a fun and engaging idea.
“We have adhered to all of the current government safety measures and social distancing and we just want everyone to enjoy themselves responsibly, there is no charge to enter the Pumpkin Patch but if you wish to select one to carve, prices start at £2.50 with the option to also purchase a carving kit.”
