Therapy clinic Oxford CBT is celebrating 10 years of supporting Oxfordshire’s mental wellbeing.

The Headington-based clinic offers cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other types of therapies that help people make positive changes and feel more fulfilled.

Oxford CBT was set up in 2013 by Tom Murfitt, in response to an increasing demand for fast and flexible access to quality therapy and has grown significantly to a team of over 20 therapists with two clinics in Oxford and Birmingham.

As well as growing the team, the clinic has also expanded its services over the last decade.

Oxford CBT now works with adults, children and businesses in Oxfordshire and beyond and has supported over 2,250 people in the past five years alone.

It offers a range of evidence-based therapies including CBT, dialectical behaviour therapy, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing, cognitive behavioural therapy for eating disorders and autism and ADHD assessments.

Oxford CBT also helps businesses support their staff’s mental health, to improve productivity and reduce absences. It provides corporate therapy, work wellbeing and coaching for businesses and mental health first aid training. It is the only independent private mental health clinic in Oxfordshire offering this range of services.

“It’s a myth that you only need therapy when you are really struggling - everyone will experience difficulties or lack of purpose – and therapy can be beneficial for so many people," said Tom.

"Our aim is to help clients build the tools they need to navigate life, embrace challenges, and ultimately improve their wellbeing.

“The clinic was set up in 2013 because there was a real need for accessible therapy in Oxford.

"Over the last 10 years we have seen mental health become more talked about and discussed, which is wonderful, but there’s still more work to be done.

"Therapy can be life changing and it’s been incredible to be a part of so many people’s journeys over the last decade.”

Over the last 10 years, the clinic has worked with local university colleges, the NHS, GPs and local schools, and its expert clinicians have collaborated with local businesses and the community to help raise awareness for mental health.

Oxford CBT is continuously looking to develop and provide better services to its clients and the community.

It has recently launched new online self-assessments tools and free online resources helping people understand their symptoms and how they can get help, which have been widely shared.
