Organic Cotswold pub becomes the Advent Inn

The Bathurst Arms in North Cerney, Gloucestershire is showing its festive side with all exterior windows now decorated to depict an advent calendar.

The whole of the lower floor windows have been decorated by pub artist Neil Watkins of Words Up Signs. All of this is to complement the decorations and trees that are all over the pub as business owner Jordan Pelly tries to bring some much needed Christmas cheer to the village of North Cerney, Cirencester and surrounding area.

“It has been a year to forget for most due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns,” he said. “I want to bring some happiness and light to the end of the year and by light I mean I have put them all around the pub and dining areas as well as a snowflake illumination on the outside of the building that can be seen from the road.

“The school is just yards away and so many of the children walk past the front of the pub or are picked up from our car park, we want them to smile when they see the advent windows and count down with us.”

The famous pink pub has had reason to celebrate this year when it was awarded five prestigious stars for Organic Served Here by the Soil Association Certification.

It is the first pub to receive five stars and the award has been a target for Bathurst Arms director, Jordan Pelly and his head chef, Michal Wlodarcyk, since they reopened the doors in July this year.

“It was great to get the award but then we had to immediately close again due to the second lockdown. Now is the time to celebrate all that is good and that is family and community. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in to the Bathurst Arms.”
