Families from around the county will have the chance to enjoy the delights of West Midland Safari Park thanks to an initiative launched next month by The Worcestershire Ambassadors.

This is the first time that the group has organised the Family Fun Day Out and hope it will be a roaring success for all of the families involved. Over 400 tickets donated by the Park will provide families from across Worcestershire with a chance to enjoy the local attraction on Sunday 2nd June.

The Worcestershire Ambassadors are a group of individuals who share a common passion for Worcestershire and an enthusiasm to create a County to be proud of. In promoting Worcestershire, they work in partnership with various other groups in the County including The Chamber of Commerce, The Local Enterprise Partnership, University of Worcester and Worcestershire County Council.

The local group has raised over £500k for local causes. Last year, this comprised of £100k for St Richard’s Hospice, £15k for Worcestershire Prostate Awareness Society, £5k for Derek Fradgely Memorial Fund and £15k for sponsorship of local events and organisations.

West Midland Safari Park is an award-winning visitor attraction, home to over 130 different species of animals, such as cheetahs, lions, giraffes, rhinos and elephants. It has a variety of all-weather attractions, including a four-mile self-drive safari, Discovery Trail, African Village, dinosaur exhibit and theme park.

This year, the Worcestershire Ambassadors are focussing on mental health charities in the County, namely St Paul’s Hostel and Worcester Community Trust. The Chair of the Ambassador’s, Kevin Powell, is excited to be supporting families across the county with their first families fun day out. Kevin said:

I’m delighted that the Worcestershire Ambassadors are able to help give an opportunity for so many people to enjoy Worcestershire’s No 1 tourist venue. As a group we are lucky to host our annual Ball at this amazing local venue and now thrilled that we can collaborate with the team at West Midland Safari Park again, to provide so many Worcestershire families with the chance to benefit from the experience too.
