Staines Metro Bank has donated more than 60 items of food to the Gurseva food bank in celebration of Vaisakhi, the Sikh New Year festival.

Gurseva and its team of volunteers help vulnerable people in the local community, providing hot food, refreshments, clothing, sanitary products, and a friendly ear to those who are homeless or in shelters.

The need for local food banks like Gurseva has never been greater. More than 14 million people in the UK are currently living in poverty, nearly 5 million of which are children.

Jasmine Betts, Assistant Store Manager, at Staines Metro Bank, said: “A huge thank you to everyone who donated.

“As a community bank, we want to make a difference to our local communities.  We are one of over 25 of our stores that collected for local food banks to help local residents and families in need.”
