A Redditch electronics company has donated 20 laptops and 10 wireless dongles to help students at Trinity High School who are currently learning from home.

Despite most students working remotely during the national lockdown, some do not have the vital supplies or internet access they need to be able to access lessons online.

Provided by Solid State PLC, the donated devices will make a huge difference towards enabling local students to engage and interact within lessons to ensure their education continues.

A handful of staff at the school have also kindly donated laptops to support with home learning.

Gary Marsh, CEO of Solid State PLC, said: “Whilst our business trades nationwide, we have a long history of operating in Redditch and are only too pleased to be able to give something back to the community where we now have our headquarters.  These are difficult times for everyone, but we recognise that the future of UK industry depends particularly on the education of our children. We are delighted to be able to help in this small way.”

Adrian Ward, Headteacher at Trinity High School, said:We are really grateful for the generosity of both the public, charities, local businesses and the school staff. Without their support we would have even more students unable to access remote lessons, and the long-term effects of this could be very damaging. Any further support or donations would be gratefully received.”

Councillor Marcus Hart, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Education and Skills, said: “It is great to see the local community coming together to support schools during this very challenging time. All students should have access to education, and this donation from Solid State PLC will make a vital impact to the students at Trinity High School.”
