On September 28th, the University of Surrey's Centre for Cyber Security and the SASIG group - the UK's foremost cyber security network - will hold an intriguing event. Throughout the evening, they will look at the future of cyber security in financial technology (Fintech).

The seminar will look into the importance of cyber security to these financial digital services, why cyber security has become so important to modern economies and how cyber attackers and criminals are adapting to take advantage of these new technologies.

Fintech is a major growth sector in the British economy, spawning new businesses with innovative new products and services that improve the user experience and the services they consume. Fintech firms have used programmes like Open Banking to obtain access to large banks' data, merging it with other data sources, new analytics, and new devices to give new services to clients. Anyone working in - or adjacent to - the industry knows its potential.

Fintech has pushed the frontiers of what's possible on mobile platforms, providing services that would not or could not be otherwise imagined. There are also new methods of holding and transmitting wealth, such as cryptocurrencies, all of which come with their own security flaws and needs.

The event will be hybrid, taking place physically at The University of Surrey's Guildford campus, with live stream access for remote participants. There will be an interactive Q&A session and networking opportunities beginning at 4pm and lasting for two hours.

The event is completely free to attend. If you want to go, you can do so by registering here.
