John Spence voted Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and District Law Society President for a second year

The Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and District Law Society (TWTDLS) has elected John Spence, a property litigation partner at the Tunbridge Wells-based CooperBurnett, to a second term as president.

A variety of social gatherings, seminars and a well-attended supper in November all led to what was a successful first year in office for the sitting President.

Local attorneys from Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge established the TWTDLS all the way back in May 1933. It's run by a committee that's chosen every year and provides networking, training and social activities for neighbourhood attorneys as well as representation for local members in meetings with The Law Society, the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and other governmental agencies. The membership also comprises paralegals, trainees, legal executives, barristers, and in-house attorneys in addition to solicitors.

“I am proud to be President for a second year,” says John. “Our events throughout the past year have been well attended and we’ve already got a date scheduled in for a quiz night in March.”

“Our courses have covered a range of subjects from employment to property litigation and are important for continuing professional development."

CooperBurnett has had a long-standing relationship with TWTDLS. Former partners Jonathan Smithers and Katie Gillam, as well as current partners Victoria Sampson and Katie Gillam, have all served as president. Former partner Jonathan Smithers later served as president of the Law Society.
