Hampshire’s Instavolt partners with EV charging platform Plugsurfing

Hampshire-based EV charging network InstaVolt has struck up a partnership with Plugsurfing to help drivers access its 1,350 charging points across the country.

It adds to the existing Plugsurfing network of almost 30,000 points in the UK and more than 600,000 in Europe, which users can search and pay for through an app.

Carmakers and mobility providers can also give their customers access to the network through branded white label services or bespoke integrations with Drive API.

Adrian Keen, CEO of InstaVolt, said: “Plugsurfing’s ethos very much aligns with our own – improve the charging experience for everyone and support the national transition to EVs.

“Our main goal is to make our chargers easily accessible to new and existing drivers, and we’re hopeful that apps like Plugsurfing will further instill confidence in drivers who are considering the switch to EVs.

“The future success of the UK’s charging infrastructure is reliant on industry collaboration of this kind, and we look forward to supporting Plugsurfing as it further enhances its reach.”

The deal follows a ‘significant’ capital raise earlier this month with EQT Infrastructure, which acquired InstaVolt in February 2022.

Tom Rowlands, CEO of Plugsurfing, added: “At our core, we want to help make EV charging easy and carefree for drivers.

“Now that our drivers have access to one of the largest public charging networks in the UK, they can easily plan their journeys and pay for charging.

“We aim to bring the best value to our drivers and partners, so building our relationship with InstaVolt is an exciting development for us and our drivers.”
