Hampshire-based engineering consultancy Trant Engineering has celebrated five of its staff who have reached 25 years’ service at the firm.

Charlotte Bullen, Kevin Coombes, Mick Noyce, Simon Walsh and Tina Wheeler together bring the number of staff to reach the milestone at the Solent 250-listed company up to 162, with chairman Patrick Trant paying individual tribute to each.

Patrick said: “Our turnover a quarter of a century ago was £26m compared to being in excess of £140m now. Charlotte, Kevin, Mick, Simon and Tina, like many others here at Trant Engineering, have played key roles in helping the company grow into what it is today.

“The fantastic five are first class - hardworking, dependable, loyal and trustworthy. They join 157 other staff who have marked 25 years each with the business.”

“Staff retention is incredibly important to any business and, through training and the relentless commitment to quality from processes to field operations, I am proud to say that we are in the Premier League of retention for our industry.”

Simon, who joined the company at 16 and now holds the position of Commercial Manager, and Tina, an HR administrator who originally joined in 1980 before taking a career break and re-joining in2005, passed the milestone in 2020.

Meanwhile, Charlotte, who first joined as an accounts trainee and now manages the construction industry solutions software, Mick, a maintenance specialist who started out at Fawley Refinery and works on the firm’s property assets, and Kevin, who works as a foreman, including overseeing deep excavations, pipe laying and concrete structures, all joined in 2021.

The pandemic and frequency of the awards, which have generally been held every two years since 1988, meant the in-person ceremonies had been postponed. The five were celebrated at the Montagu Arms Hotel in Beaulieu, New Forest, with nearly 25 in attendance including directors along with recipients and their partners.
