Mortar boards may not be thrown up in the air in very straight lines during this year's University of Reading graduation festivities. Not if local brewers Double-Barrelled Brewery have anything to do with it, at least.
The West Reading-based craft beer experts have teamed with the town's university to design and create a special new beer to celebrate the Class of 2022 and their academic achievements over the past few years.
The beverage, a 4.3% lager, is called - rather fittingly - 'Academia' and has already been made available across the uni campus' bars: The Dairy, Park House, Park Bar, Mojo's and The Ice House. All of which, while student bars, are open to the public.
Double-Barrelled are no strangers to creating special one-off beers to celebrate the town in which they live. They recently brewed up a 4.8% pale ale called The Number Seventeen, lauding the town's famously-reliable 24/7 bus route which runs past their brewing HQ.
