Crawley charity Building Heroes appoints new Chief Executive
Brendan Williams, the founder and CEO of the Building Heroes Education Foundation, is departing after eight years on the job. Karen Jefford, the charity's current COO, will take over from Williams as of the first day of next year.
Building Heroes is an award-winning non-profit organisation that provides re-skilling training services to service leavers, veterans, reservists and military families. They offer training and job placement services by providing learners with a wide range of trade skills and linking them with a network of companies.
Karen's objective for the future at Building Heroes is to create a sustainable model that supports the charity's growth, all while also providing answers to our stakeholders and securing the long-term future of the charity.
The current Chief Executive said this about his successor: “I am very pleased that the Trustees of Building Heroes have chosen to appoint Karen Jefford as my successor as Chief Executive. Karen has led the development of Building Heroes from the end of the start-up phase through to our current national presence and is now leading our conversion to the industry-led academy model. Having worked closely with Karen for the past 4 years, I know I am leaving the charity in very safe and capable hands.”
While Karen herself had this to say about her upcoming promotion: “I am honoured to have been appointed as Chief Executive. Having had the pleasure of working alongside Brendan for the last 4 years I have a shared passion and commitment to not only the charity but to those we serve. I couldn't be more excited about my appointment. I will be proud to lead the team and together work on the strategy and developments planned for the next few years and new era for Building Heroes.”
