Carbon storage 'integral' to UK supply chain
A Guildford company has predicted carbon storage facilities will become an 'integral part' of UK's carbon capture and storage supply chain.
Future Biogas, who have been granted the UKs first licence to store carbon below the North Sea, made the prediction after announcing tens of millions of pounds investment in the construction of 32 CO2 storage tanks at a site in Humber.
Anaerobic digestion is a fuel production process whereby organic matter is treated by micro-organisms in an oxygen free environment. It is a popular method of treating or breaking down waste products.
The CO2 is a by-product of Anaerobic Digestion plants and will be captured and liquified at the facilities operated by Future Biogas.
Anaerobic digestion developer Future Biogas plans dozens of carbon dioxide storage tanks on the Humber Estuary. The fuel for their biomass plants comes from regenerative farming techniques.
