Worcestershire Ambassadors marked a busy year of fundraising at their annual Drunch event and charity cheque presentation.

Held at Bolero Bar & Kitchen in Worcester on December 13, the event attracted 80 guests who enjoyed a two-course lunch and reflected on a wide range of events including the annual ball, the Strictly Worcestershire charity dance spectacular and cricket and race days.

Also present were representatives of the Ambassadors’ two main charities for 2019, St Paul’s Hostel and Worcester Community Trust.

More than £70,000 was handed out to local charities in partnership with Lowe’s Solicitors, DRPG, Andrew Grant and Greenworks Solutions.

Other charities to benefit this year were St Richard’s Hospice, Acorns Children’s Hospice, FitzRoy, Riversides School, Worcester Nomads Cricket Club, Headway, Worcestershire Cobham Cricket Trust, Samaritans, Primrose Hospice, Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter and New Hope Children’s Charity.

Worcestershire Ambassadors chairman Julia Williams said: “We’re thrilled to have been able to help so many charities doing such fantastic work in our county.

“Our membership is growing which means that we can continue to raise more funds for good causes and spread the message that Worcestershire is a great place to live, work and play. We’d like to thank all Ambassadors and their guests who supported events in 2019 and look forward to seeing them in 2020, which is our 20th anniversary year.”

Among this year’s highlights will be the Gheluvelt to Gheluvelt Cycle Ride in October to unveil a new memorial to members of the Worcestershire Regiment that fought in the Battle of Gheluvelt in Belgium in 1914.
