The Thames Valley office of Grant Thornton has appointed experienced VAT specialist Ruth Corkin who has practised in the field for over 20 years.
Corkin was previously with James Cowper in the Thames Valley, where she provided advice to a range of clients from small not-for-profit companies to those looking to list on AIM.
She is technical chair of the VAT Practitioners Group, a member of the ICAEW Tax Faculty VAT and Duties Committee and also of HM Revenue and Customs Joint VAT Consultative Committee.
Locally she is a member of the Thames Valley Women in Property group and was a member of the Oxford Chamber of Commerce Committee.
She has presented seminars on VAT issues to wide audiences including as a speaker for Lexis Nexis and for the VAT Practitioners Group annual conference.
Specialist areas include land and property transactions, international services, inward investment opportunities, financial services, education and mergers and acquisitions.
