Thames Valley: Pitmans offers reader review of Inheritance Tax plans
With a raft of Inheritance Tax changes imminent, leading Thames Valley law firm Pitmans is offering readers of The Business Magazine a free review of their Inheritance Tax plans.
Pitmans warns people who have implemented a number of well-known Inheritance Tax planning strategies over the past decade that they could be in for some nasty shocks after the 2013 Finance Bill receives Royal Assent in July – and if some current 'Consultations' lead to yet more changes in 2014.
One by one 'loopholes' are being closed, says the firm. Some arrangements made in good faith many years ago may now come unstuck retroactively, as HMRC moves the goalposts by legislation, or stealthy change of long-established practice, and the Courts revisit decisions made in the past. In contrast, some new opportunities have emerged for mixed domicile couples.
