Thames Valley accountants Chantrey Vellacott has appointed a new VAT director, welcoming Debbie Jennings back to the firm.

Jennings spent three years with Chantrey Vellacott before moving to Grant Thornton, and has now returned following a 15-year absence. During her career she has also worked for HMRC and Deloitte.

She will be heading up the VAT team at the office on Queen’s Road in Reading, alongside senior tax partner John Owen.

Jennings said she is looking forward to playing a major role developing Chantrey Vellacott’s VAT planning and advisory services.

She said: “I’ve always held Chantrey Vellacott in high regard and had kept in contact with the firm - it’s great to be back.

“The firm has a good balance of clients and skill sets, and I’m looking forward to strengthening our service offering and bringing new ideas to the table.

“My specialist experience is working with charities and not-for-profit organisations along with public and private sector clients, but I love working on all aspects of VAT.

“It’s an exciting time to re-join the firm and take on a more senior role. Chantrey Vellacott has grown and developed a lot in the past few years, and the market has also picked up recently which is very positive, so I see this as a perfect opportunity to take on this new challenge.”

Managing partner Mike Tovey said Debbie was a welcome addition to the tax team. “Debbie has a fantastic amount of experience in the accountancy and tax world and we’re really pleased to welcome her back. Her knowledge and expertise will be extremely beneficial to our team and our clients.”
