Southampton: Paris Smith announces new partner
Paris Smith has announced that Rachel Burnett joined the firm on January 1 to head up the specialist IT/IP team.
Burnett is distinguished in her field, providing commercial legal services in all IT-related matters, having been a partner in leading IT/IP City of London firms. She acts for a range of clients from different parts of the IT industry: suppliers, service providers and users.
Before her legal career, Burnett was an IT professional in system development and project management, and has been awarded an honorary doctorate in technology from Southampton Solent University. She is a recent past president of the British Computer Society.
Burnett is author of several books, including Drafting and Negotiating Computer Contracts, Outsourcing IT – the Legal Aspects, and a series of IT/IP law guides for the Institute of Chartered Accountants. She works with the Open University Law Programme as an associate lecturer.
