Following an extensive interview selection process, Brethertons LLP has appointed Shaun Jardine as chief executive officer.

The appointment follows a period of rapid growth for the firm which has invested significantly over the past two years through a number of strategic lateral hires and mergers, which have increased its strength and depth across a broad range of commercial and personal legal services.

In the past 12 months alone, Brethertons has recruited 66 people, of which 35 were employed within new positions, consolidating the 28% growth achieved by the firm in 2013-2014. This is further cemented with its physical expansion into Bicester and imminent move into brand-new, purpose-built offices in the heart of Rugby.

"As we embark on this exciting new chapter for Brethertons, the other partners and I are very confident that, with his candid passion, Shaun is the right person to lead the firm forward,” said Mike Dibben, partner and incumbent CEO.  Dibben has led the firm as CEO since 2010 and announced earlier in the year that he would step down from the role once a successor was named.

“Shaun has a proven ability and flair to drive innovation and growth, and a talent for bringing people together and delivering results. His vision for how legal services will be used and purchased in the future is exactly what we need to take the firm through this next chapter of our development as one of the UK’s leading legal services providers.”

Since Brethertons merged with Auld & Jardine in 1995, Jardine has spearheaded major strategy and shifts in income streams across the firm’s range of services; most notably through the development and implementation of new services in niche areas of law. This has been achieved through a combination of innovation, good practice and a clear and unwavering focus on excellent client service.

He has been partner and head of a multiple-award-winning team of lawyers, which include the commercial litigation, property management and commercial recoveries teams, as well as a member of the management team leading up to this appointment.

“I am delighted that the partners have given me the opportunity to lead the firm in this exciting new CEO role, and extremely excited about the possibilities that lie within our future here at Brethertons,” said Jardine.

“Our established experience in delivering excellence in legal services coupled with our innovative approach and our strong client-centric ethos, positions us well to act on the opportunities during this time of dynamic change in the legal industry. I look forward to working with our entire Brethertons team, who I firmly believe have great ideas and hold the key to our future success.”

With 19 partners and 268 staff, Brethertons has offices in Banbury, Bicester and Rugby, as well as a London office based in The Strand.
