Barclays has appointed a new relationship director for the Thames Valley and South East region.

Dassos Alexandrou has joined Barclays higher education team with responsibility for supporting a portfolio of new and existing university clients with corporate financing, cash management solutions, trade finance and digital banking services.

Commenting on his new appointment, Alexandrou said: "I am really thrilled to be taking up this role and working closely with our clients during this difficult time, to help them realise their strategic goals and ambitions. The region hosts some of the best universities in the world and their research and teaching excellence has a key role to play in supporting the UK’s recovery, as we look to rebuild over the coming years. I look forward to playing my part in collaborating with the region’s higher education institutions now and in the future."

Richard Robinson, head of Barclays higher education, added: “I am pleased to welcome Dassos into the higher education sector for the Thames Valley and South East region. Dassos’s appointment demonstrates our continued desire to provide our clients with relationship directors who specialise in their industry at a time when this is even more important as lockdown eases.”

Alexandrou has worked at Barclays for 16 years and undertaken various roles within banking, most recently working with corporate banking clients operating in business and professional services. Alexandrou holds a PDipB&F (professional diploma in banking and finance) from London Institute of Banking and Finance.
