South Coast: Law firm Coffin Mew appoints 12 new trainees

Regional law firm Coffin Mew has welcomed six new trainee solicitors and six new trainee legal assistants to its team.

The trainees will be based in Portsmouth and Southampton. They will rotate between departments every six months for two years, gaining expertise in legal specialisms including residential property, commercial property, restructuring and insolvency, clinical and catastrophic injury and Court of Protection.

The trainee solicitors are Emma Jones, Danny Dawkins, David Harris, David Gregory, Samantha Kerins and Gurbir Pattar. The trainee legal assistants are Fiona Goodacre, Roshni Korat, Lauren Ward, Fathema Hoque, Ed Glanville and Danielle Heeley.

Emma Jones joins Coffin Mew having studied law at the University of Surrey and completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law, Guildford. Her first department is Court of Protection. She said: “I wanted to start my path to becoming a solicitor in a varied and ambitious firm that will do everything it can to encourage me to be my best. Whichever department I qualify into, I am honoured to be part of such an amazing team.”

Danny Dawkins is taking the next step in his career and within the firm following a year as a paralegal. Danny converted his Music Industry Management degree into a law degree by way of the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), before undertaking the LPC. His first department is in the clinical and catastrophic injury department. Dawkins said: “I chose to train at Coffin Mew because of its friendly atmosphere, its wide range of practice areas and the promise of intellectually stimulating and rewarding work. It’s a firm on the up and I’m really excited to be part of its plans for the future.”
