This week, Brethertons welcomes Val Suley to the firm in the role of chief finance officer. She will oversee the finance and accounts functions of the firm and also sit on the management team.
The move complements the recent appointment of Sally Jones to the firm’s management team as chief operating officer in June.
With more than 20 years’ commercial finance experience gained across a diverse range of industry sectors, Suley has previously led the finance operations at a number of multi-national enterprises including Curver UK, Invesys Controls and Kalmar. A qualified chartered accountant, she joins the firm after relocating from Cornwall.
She said: “Brethertons is nationally recognised for a number of different legal practice areas and has a presence right across the country. Being based in Cornwall, I didn’t hesitate at the chance to relocate to join the firm. A firm expanding at the rate of 28% year-on-year needs a robust financial framework upon which to grow, and I’m looking forward to the challenge of leading Brethertons into the next phase of its development.”
Shaun Jardine, chief executive officer at Brethertons, explained why the firm selected Suley from a large pool of applicants: “We knew straight away that Val had what we were looking for. Her broad and proven experience really showed through when she produced a sample five-year financial strategy for the firm at her first interview. We’re thrilled to have her on board and look forward to supporting her in her new role.”
