Glanvilles LLP has promoted two of its solicitors to partners: Marie Russell from the firms’ Newport office and Johnathan Arman from Fareham.

Russell completed her training contract with Glanvilles and qualified as a solicitor in June 2009. She originally studied law at Queen Mary & Westfield University in London and completed her legal practice course at Guildford College of Law, achieving a distinction.

Based in Glanvilles' property services department, she deals with all aspects of buying and selling residential properties including re-mortgages and shared ownership properties. She has also dealt with the acquisition of properties under the Help-to-Buy scheme and carried out commercial property transactions.

Commenting on her promotion, she said: “I am delighted my work and skills have been recognised. As a partner, I aim to make a positive contribution to Glanvilles’ continuing success.”

Arman’s areas of expertise include commercial litigation, dispute resolution and employment law. He read law at Southampton University, joined Glanvilles in 2005 and, like Russell, qualified as a solicitor in June 2009. He too completed his legal practice course at Guildford College of Law, also achieving a distinction.

Working within the dispute resolution department, Arman has considerable experience in litigation including contractual and property disputes, landlord and tenant matters, partnership disputes and professional negligence. His employment law experience involves acting on behalf of employers and employees in equal measure.

Arman has acted on behalf of many clients in county court, High Court and employment tribunal proceedings. If matters do progress to formal litigation, he has the experience and expertise to deal with the process as effectively as possible. However, Arman has also used mediation extensively as a means of resolving disputes quickly and cost-effectively.

Regarding his new position as partner, he said: “I feel that this promotion is recognition not just of my work but of my department. Like my colleagues, I will continue to look after my clients’ interests to the best of my ability.”
