Boyes Turner, the Reading-based law firm, has further strengthened its focus on the technology and innovation sector with the promotion to partner at the firm of Kate Eavis, a corporate lawyer with extensive experience in the technology and life sciences sectors.

The firm’s Reading roots and ready access to the silicon corridor have seen it build a nationally and internationally recognised specialism in technology and related sectors. The firm now has 17 lawyers working primarily or exclusively on tech, digital media and other innovation focused clients.

Andrew Chalkley, CEO at Boyes Turner, said: “Our location at the heart of the silicon corridor has given us the platform to attract talented lawyers and a diverse range of tech and digital media clients. We’re now established as a leading technology and innovation law firm on a national and international scale. This latest promotion is a signal of our ambition to continue to play our part in the global tech success story that the Thames Valley has become.”

The firm continues to thrive in other sectors, and Eavis is joined in election to the partnership by Laxmi Patel, who established a special educational needs team at Boyes Turner from a standing start.

Their appointments coincide with five promotions to senior associate level in the firm’s corporate, insolvency, industrial disease, employment and property teams - all growth areas for the 160-strong firm.

The full list of promotions is as follows:

  • Kate Eavis, partner, corporate
  • Laxmi Patel, partner, special educational needs team
  • Chris Dobson, senior associate, corporate
  • Oliver Fitzpatrick, senior associate, insolvency and restructuring
  • Annabelle Nielson, senior associate, industrial diseases
  • Darren Smith, senior associate, employment
  • Sarah Webb, senior associate, property group

Chalkley added: “By any measure Boyes Turner is performing strongly across the board. Future success will be built on continuing to invest in all our departments, and that is reflected in today’s promotions. Each one is a reflection of the faith our clients place in us.”
