Dorset entrepreneur Matt Cowan has facilitated a management buyout of his audio-visual company to move onto new projects.

As founder and CEO of MVS Audio Visual based in Ferndown, Matt, 41, has orchestrated a succession plan to ensure the company's senior team can further drive its future expansion.

Matt began receiving numerous acquisitions offers from competitors in the UK and the US following the firm's market growth and visibility of the company increasing.

Reflecting on his time with MVS Audio Visual, Matt said: "We have a dedicated and loyal team and I have always believed in promoting from within and nurturing talent.

''This has proved to be a successful approach as it has been the hard work and commitment of all team members that has propelled us into the space as nationally recognised audio-visual specialists.

''Simon has been with MVS for the past seventeen years, the last four as managing director, and I am 100% confident he will continue to take the business forward."

Having focussed on the growth of MVS over the past ten years, the management buyout has freed up more time enabling Matt to focus on his other business interests.

Developing his property portfolio, including building a modern five bedroomed luxury country house near Wimborne, Matt is aiming to purchase more character buildings suitable for development as Airbnb properties.

He continued:  "It's been a gradual change in direction, but the time is right for me to hand over the MVS reins to Simon and the team.

''There is also potential for me to support and mentor other business start-ups. I have always been a firm believer in nurturing talent and ideas, and sometimes it can simply be circumstances or finances that prevents good business ideas taking off.

''Potentially there is a role for me to help facilitate this. It's certainly something I am willing to explore."
