Clinical negligence specialist Stephanie Code has joined Penningtons Manches LLP as an associate director in the firm’s new Guildford office. Prior to this, Code was a partner at top-ranking City firms including Kingsley Napley LLP and Charles Russell Speechleys.

With over 20 years’ experience, her varied practice includes maximum severity claims, particularly birth injury and those with complex or novel issues. Although based in Guildford, she will also work out of the firm’s London office and often sees clients nationwide.

Code has been a member of the Law Society and AvMA specialist panels for many years. She is also an APIL fellow, having been co-ordinator and secretary of its clinical negligence special interest group from 2004-2011. She has recently been elected to the executive of the Society of Claimant Injury Lawyers (SCIL).

Recognised by The Legal 500 as being ‘vastly experienced’ and by Chambers UK as ‘very balanced and very clear’, she joins the firm’s top-ranked Guildford practice led by Philippa Luscombe. Both the clinical negligence and the personal injury teams have been recognised as ‘Leaders in their field’ by the legal directories.

Luscombe commented: “We have been actively expanding our clinical negligence and personal injury team recently and Stephanie is the third recruit in the Guildford office this year, giving us a total of 19 fee earners in our Surrey office. We are delighted to have attracted someone of Stephanie’s calibre and profile to join us and we hope to continue to grow the team and its profile with her assistance.”
