Dorset’s Avon Material Supplies acquires local concrete and aggregate supplier
Doonans of Weymouth is now under the ownership of Dorset construction materials and waste management firm Avon Material Supplies (AMS).
The acquisition gives AMS access to a new concrete batching plant and drum mixers, enabling the business to meet growing demand for high-quality concrete and aggregate.
A family-run business for more than three decades, Doonans of Weymouth also brings a wealth of local expertise.
Harold Doonan, Founder and Managing Director, said: “I’m delighted that the business my family and I have worked so hard to build up over the last 30 years will now be able to enter a new chapter under the ownership of Avon Material Supplies, a business we’ve admired for many years.

“It seems like the perfect outcome, as I can now enter retirement knowing that our existing customers will continue to be served by a business that has customer service and high-quality products at the heart of everything they do.”
The move also strengthens AMS’s operations in West Dorset, complementing its existing services in the area.
James Howarth, Managing Director of AMS, added: “From my time working with Harold, I’m confident we’ve acquired a successful business with a long history of providing fantastic services to the businesses and people of Weymouth and the surrounding areas.
“We’re looking forward to continuing and building upon the great work Harold and his team have been doing over the last three decades.”
