North car firm C & C Vehicle Services has been acquired by Buckinghamshire firm Steer Automotive Group, in a deal overseen and lead by Thames Valley consultants EvolutionCBS.

Finances for the deal were undisclosed..

C&C Vehicle Services provides repair and refurbishment services for commercial vehicles and trailer units from 3.5 tonnes through to 44 tonnes. The firm has five sites spread out across the country.

Mark Newnes, Managing Director of C&C Vehicle Services, said: “Darren and I are very proud of the strong performance of C&C over the last 3 years and with the backing of Steer we are really confident for the future. This acquisition will enable us to invest in the future and build a national commercial network.”

EvolutionCBS works with owners of UK businesses in any sector, finding buyers from around the world. In this case the transaction was relatively local, overseen by Mike Whittle who led the transaction on behalf of the shareholders of CVR Group Holdings & C&C Vehicle Services.

He said:  “It’s been my pleasure working with Mark & Darren day to day on this transaction – they have exemplified the commitment, professionalism and work ethic that underpins C&C Vehicle Services in this process.

''A big thank you also to Jack Skofic, Paul Hawkes, Richard Steer and Gavin Ruddick from Steer Automotives Group for working with us so collaboratively in this process – Having worked closely with both teams, I have no doubt that the combined group will continue to go from strength to strength.''

The acquisition complements Steer’s current national network of passenger car repair locations and will no doubt help them establish an even stronger market position.

Richard Steer, Chief Executive of Steer, said: “Our strategy has always been to grow our existing proposition and to include commercial vehicle specialist locations throughout the country.

''LCVs represent one in ten new vehicle registrations in the UK and our insurer and accident management clients are looking for specialist operations to tackle this growing sector.

''We are therefore excited to launch Steer Commercial and welcome Mark Newnes, Darren Charlesworth, and the accomplished team from C&C Vehicle Services to the Steer family and look forward to supporting them as we grow this important division of our business.”
