Buckfast report annual sales of £48m

J Chandler & Company, the wine merchants behind Buckfast, has reported sales of £48.2million, resulting in pre-tax profits of £4.2million in the year to end of March.

Pre-tax profits at the Andover based firm behind the rich tonic wine, rose from £3.6million in the previous FY.

The firm reported a UK turnover of £47.6m, up from £45.7m in FY21. European sales fell to £536,733 from £577,288. After tax profit was £2.9.million

Director JC Joyce said: “The results for the year and the financial position at the year-end were considered satisfactory by the directors."

Those results permitted a dividend payout of £975,548. The directors statement described the outlook as challenging "not least due to inflationary pressures."
